Thanks Toys R Us! February 23, 2011

I have had EA Sports Active 2 on my Amazon wish list for quite some time. I have really been wanting to work out, and so does Jamie, so I thought this would be something fun for us to do together. But it definitely wouldn’t be coming to our house for the regular price of $60! WAY out of our budget. So last week when I saw that Toys R Us had an awesome deal on the game for $20 I was thrilled!! This deal was apparently going on everywhere. I read about it on multiple sites and every store that had it in stock had it priced at $20. So I sent Jamie on a quest to find this game. When he got to the store they of course had no idea what he was talking about and the game rang up at $60. I was bummed. It bothered me all day long. So I emailed Toys R Us. I wasn’t trying to get anything out of it, I just wanted to let them know that I was very disappointed about the whole thing. I really didn’t even expect a reply back. That night I had a phone call and an email from a very nice customer service representative. Because the deal wasn’t a ToysRUs.com deal she didn’t know what I was talking about, but after I sent her a few sites that I had read, she offered me the game for $20 plus free shipping! I am so thrilled with their customer service. They didn’t even have to reply back, let alone offer me the deal online. My wonderful mail lady just delivered our new game, and I can’t wait to try it out tonight! Jamie and I don’t get many new things, there is always something else that needs to be bought. So I am definitely happy about getting this game for such a great price. Toys R Us rocks!!

2/18 Shopping Trip February 19, 2011

I had a great time shopping with my mom last night, as always. Our weekly shopping trips are normally the only time I leave the house. Its always nice to get away for a few hours. Today I’m back to reality though-a mountain of laundry to tackle and more cleaning than I will ever get done in my lifetime. ;o) Enough of that, here are the goodies I brought home last night.

Weis:

16 boxes of Lipton soup, 10 packs of Airheads. Retail Value $31. I spent $12!

Target:

2 Clorox Wipes, 2 packs of Spongebob pencils, Spongebob bags, Spongebob Blendy Pen set, Fun Dip, Quaker Oatmeal, Valentines Day banner, 2 double packs of Nature Made Vitamin D. Retail Value $44. I spent $10!

Pier 1:

2 Wood Tool Kits, Owl bank, Bird salt and pepper shakers, 13 Bob the Globs, 1 leather/chrome pen, 13 glitter bouncing balls. Retail Value $138 (what?!?!). I spent $18!

I was most excited to find a few things for Aaron’s birthday party bags-the bouncing balls, pencils, baggies, Airheads, and Bob the Globs. I think I have everything for his gift bags, and his party isn’t until April. It pays to start early!

Total saved today: $173

Total saved in 2011: $983!!

Fun Amazon deals! February 16, 2011

Sometimes Amazon has some outstanding deals, and I was lucky enough to get in on a few of them!

First off, 3 boxes of Lucky Charms for $4.18, down from$18.50 (that seems kinda crazy high). I paid nothing though because of a gift card!

Next up is 4 different work books for my little genius. These were regularly $2.99 each. I bought them during a Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale, and my total was $4.40. I paid nothing though because of a gift card!

Best part-the gift card that I use (I still have $11 left) only cost me $5 for the $20 gift card!! Woo hoo!

I’m still crafty! February 13, 2011

It is so hard for me to find time to craft. I bet I haven’t scrapbooked in a  year. I am so behind I don’t even want to think about it! It seems I am busy every second of every day. Somehow I found time to make this wreath, although it took me almost 3 weeks! (I am so ashamed to say that.)

I’m so in love with this thing. It’s so nice to be able to make something pretty with my own hands, even if it did take me almost a month. ;o) Plus I only spent about $7 total for everything. I probably have most of the supplies already, but my craft room is currently in boxes so I had to buy yarn, ribbon, felt, and the wreath form. Totally worth it though!

2/12 Shopping trip

I had to make a quick trip out this morning to get rid of 3 weeks of recycling (it was seriously taking over my house!), so I thought I’d stop at Rite Aid and CVS since I hadn’t made it there this week. I was pretty happy with my haul!

CVS:

2 Excedrin, Clairol hair color, Schick Hydro Razor. Retail Value $31. I spent $2 and got back $1ECB!

Rite Aid:

1 Coldcalm, 1 Chestal (this stuff is FANTASTIC!), 2 Butterfinger Snackerz, 21 Mentos (yes, 21. I ordered coupons online so that I could get these for Aaron’s birthday bags! I also wanted to add that I made sure not to clear the shelf! I have never bought so many of one thing, but since it was the last day of the sale and they had plenty on the shelf I made sure to ask the cashier if she minded.) Retail Value $36. I spent $7 and I’ll get an $11 check back!!

How awesome is it that I got $67 worth of stuff today, and I’ll actually make $3?! I spend a lot of time printing and clipping and organizing and planning, but it is so worth it.

Total savings: $70 (after check)

Total savings for 2011: $735!
